The Power of Balance

You have probably come across many articles or books or lessons or yoga teachers that preach to you about the concept of balance. I’m not here to knock their teachings but perhaps to preach my own understanding of obtaining balance in life and the lessons that it brings forth.

Balance should not be romanticized
Many people have concocted this notion in their mind that those who have achieved a balance in life are always happy and nothing can move their spirit. Many believe that once balance is achieved that is the end goal, you are liberated from all evils of life. This is far from the truth.

Being committed to balance is understanding that when you are up, you must come down and when you are down you must come up. It is true that harnessing this understanding can relieve us from certain sufferings however the waves are still constant and they must be traversed. The idea is not to fight the waves, rather become like a surfer and rise and fall with the waves.

Balance comes at a cost
Most people traversing the physical plane live their years never understanding the notion of balance. That is okay but the problem lies with those that do understand. It isn’t necessarily something that can be…
