The day before I started my senior year of high school I was sitting outside of a cookout (the restaurant) enjoying the last night of summer with some friends. We were approached by an old man asking for money to purchase a meal. My friends were more on the selfish level and brushed him off like a fly. I’m not saying I’m Mother Theresa but I bought the man a meal and sat down with him to eat. He thanked me with a cigarette and as I smoked he ate and he talked about his life. He had served 25 years in prison after murdering his stepfather who was abusive to his mother. I won’t go into detail about the exact nature of the abuse but he was very descriptive. Also I’m not an advocate for justified murder but I couldn’t say I blamed the old man for his actions. While in prison he claimed he found God and started a divine relationship. Sometime after his release he told me God had come to him in a vision and that he/she/them planned to set the world on fire. After this encounter the old man handed me a bible, thanked me for the meal and walked away.

This is when the dreams started. The world set on fire.

Sometime in fall 2011:

I was waiting for the bus. The day seemed odd in the fact that I was the only one at the bus stop. Usually accompanied by three or four other neighborhood kids I found myself alone…
