The Chakras run from the base of the spine to the top of the head in the order of: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third-Eye and Crown.

I’ve been studying yoga and the chakras for awhile now and would like to spread my knowledge into the void of the internet in hopes that it leads people into a spiritual journey to better not just their own lives but the lives of those around them. So, I start with a simple introduction to the chakras and in later articles I’ll get more into it. Since this is an introduction there won’t be much in this that will blow your mind or change your life but if it does then all the better.

Root Chakra (Muladhara)

The Root Chakra is the representation of our foundation. Located at the base of the spine it allows us to feel grounded. Think of this Chakra like the foundation of a building. Without giving time and attention to building the foundation then the whole building becomes compromised. This is the same in our bodies. If you don’t give time and attention to the Root Chakra then the other Chakras will be blocked and imbalanced.

Red is the color of the Root Chakra and is an element of Earth. The Earth is what we stand on and is the ultimate foundation of all things just as the Root Chakra is the foundation of our being. This Chakra is developed in our years from one to seven.
